His Majesty King Mohammed VI chaired, on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Royal Palace in Fez, the presentation ceremony of the general report of the Ad-hoc Committee for the Development Model (CSMD), and granted on this occasion an audience to Chakib Benmoussa, President of this Committee, who presented to the Sovereign a copy of the report.
The renovation of the development model constitutes a new stage in the consolidation of the social project led by the Sovereign. It is also called upon to strengthen the attachment to the values of positive and active citizenship, as well as the feeling of belonging to a nation and the affirmation of the historical and cultural Moroccan personality, rich with its millennial history, its tradition of openness and its multiple components.
Thus, in accordance with the mission entrusted to it, the Committee has adopted a multidimensional approach and rigorously framed its work. It was able, notably, to explore the new challenges and changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, in a multitude of strategic areas such as health, agriculture and food security, energy, and industrial and tourism development.
On the occasion of the Royal audience granted to Chakib Benmoussa, His Majesty the King congratulated the President and the members of the Committee for their efforts and the quality of the work accomplished, the result of a broad participatory process of listening, debate and collective intelligence on the renovation of the Moroccan development model.
The Sovereign also congratulated the Committee for its full respect for the participatory approach that His Majesty the King recommended in this matter and thanked, on this occasion, all the contributors to this endeavor, such as the political parties, the economic and social organizations, NGOs and think-tanks as well as all the citizens who participated, across the national territory, in the hearings organized by the Committee.
On this occasion, His Majesty the King called for interacting with the result of this work and for using it in the service of the development of our country and the well-being of its citizens.
The Sovereign ordered the publication of the CSMD report and asked the Committee to carry out a vast operation of presentation and explanation of its conclusions and recommendations to citizens and the various stakeholders across all regions of the Kingdom.
In addition, the government and the different actors and institutions are invited, each in their area of expertise, to participate and actively contribute to the implementation of the relevant recommendations of this report, in order to serve the new ambition and the new development course, to meet the expectations of His Majesty the King and the Moroccan people.
In this regard, the innovative proposal of the CSMD aimed at turning the strategic elements of the new model into a "National Pact for Development" should be retained and implemented in a constructive and consensual spirit, with a high sense of responsibilities and the general interest, as a common frame of reference for all living forces in their diversity.
This ceremony took place in the presence of Head of Government Saad Dine El Otmani, speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, speaker of the House of Advisors Hakim Benchamach, HM the King's advisors Omar Azzimane and Fouad Ali El Himma, and presidents of constitutional bodies.
It was also attended by the secretaries general and presidents of the political parties represented in Parliament, the secretary general of the Supreme Council of Ulema Mohamed Yssef, the Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib Abdellatif Jouahri, the High Commissioner for Planning Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, the President of the Employers' Body (CGEM) Chakib Alj, and the President of the Professional Grouping of Moroccan Banks (GPBM) Othmane Benjelloun.
